Applying to be an Au Sable Graduate Fellow
The Au Sable Graduate Fellows program is open to graduate students (Masters and Ph.D.) in the biological, ecological, or environmental fields. Graduate students in other fields who have a research focus in a topic related to Christian environmental stewardship may also apply. We currently have chapters at five universities: Cornell University, Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Wisconsin. Applications from graduate students at these universities will be received by October 15 (Fall term) and February 15 (Winter term). Graduate students at other institutions may apply with permission of the Au Sable Graduate Fellows coordinator (Dr. Rolf Bouma -- rbouma@umich.edu).
If appointed as an Au Sable Graduate Fellow, the appointment continues for the duration of one's graduate program (one does not need to apply again each year). The application process requires an information form, a concise essay, two letters of recommendation, a CV/resume, and unofficial transcripts for the past two years. These should be submitted, if possible, electronically.
